Shifting Toward the Future

Dear reader,

Hello from the road! I am, not surprisingly, traveling right now. I am soon to be on my way back to Myanmar to begin my second year of teaching! That’s right folks: I survived my first year of international teaching–complete with monsoon rains, power outages, internet failure, and some of the most incredible students and staff–and I’m back for more! I couldn’t be more excited.

As many of you may know, this blog was originally a vehicle for me to share my experiences with family and friends while alone and abroad (heheh). It was a place for me to post pictures and stories so others could see what I was up to. However, times and priorities change. Given the fact that I’ve been doing far less traveling and far more teaching of late, it makes sense that this blog would transition from a recounting of my travel tales to a medium in which I can share and synthesize my ideas regarding international education and the development of my personal educational philosophy. There will still be images and stories of my adventures when a vacation hits (and I’ve got some doozies planned already for this year!), but this blog’s primary purpose is shifting along with my needs.

In light of this shift, my next blog post will begin to delve into a marvelous and game-changing book I read this summer called The Art of Possibility. It is written by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander, and it is a truly wonderful read. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you!

Sincerely,

Katherine
